5 LGBTQ travel destinations to visit in unexpected states
The Saloon sets itself apart through its steamy and raunchy themed parties. This popular bar has a perpetually packed dance floor, video bar, outdoor patio, pool tables, and a back bar that attracts a young and sexy crowd.
Great Bar
Went a couple of years ago while I visited. Plan on going back on my upcoming visit.
Defrosted boys
I recently went to Minny on business and this place was recommended by a friend. My colleagues and I got there at happy hour and decided to stay. It was great fun with lots of cute boys, and great tunes. If you find yourself in Minny you should check it out .
A Palace for Pretty & Pretentious People (and weak drinks)
I've lived in this city my entire life, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've gone here. My experiences here have always been rotten. Most of the bartenders are rude and will ignore you if you're not a friend of theirs, regardless if it's busy or not. On two occasions, I've been called the 'n-word' by bartenders here (the incidents were 6 years apart and involved a different bartender each time). The drinks are either weak as hell or poured poorly (stick with beer). Also, keep an eye on your drink. The only time in my life I've been roofied happened here. The crowd skews young, male, and white - think 'Clones.' Other than a Latino night on Tuesdays, diversity is NOT something this bar knows much about. The only positive things I can say: There's generally no cover charge (unless there's a special event or you're under 21), the food is decent, and the security staff are very friendly. If you like the idea of standing and posing with pretty people while sipping on weak drinks, then this is your bar. Otherwise, ANY of the other bars in Minneapolis are a better bet.
18+
when is 18+ days?
Don't grab my ass
I'll admit the food is really good there, but sometimes it depends on who's cooking. Some days it might be burned, other days it might be perfect, and it's relatively cheap. That's basically where my complements end.
I've been sexually harassed by employees every time I've gone there. A few times on my apparel, sometimes getting my ass grabbed, and propositioned to going into the bathrooms. I'll admit some of the bartenders and cooks are really cute, but the guys who work there are a little creepy. It just seems really inappropriate to be asking a customer if they want to go into the "back room". Darling, you better be giving me more than just one free drink if you think I'm lowering my standards like that.
Great surprise
Hit this spot after the dank 90s, so maybe anything would look good but the guys were hot, the staff VERY friendly (and hot) and the music was awesome. Plus, didn't see a single bachelorette party (which seemed to be all the 90s had) so it was a much friendlier and healthier crowd.
Ok Place
No bar is worth 5 stars. Only those who give free drinks, massages, free money and, well.....use your creative gay thoughts. Went to this place several times on my first trip to MPLS. Nice, clean, decent time. The guests were a little less than fortunate but the drinks were cold and the music was fun.
Showing some love
I LOVE and deeply miss the Saloon. I worked there for five years. It was a great time. If you come with friends or alone you well have a great time. Great drinks and the dance floor one of the Best in the U.S!
simple the best
I love this bar the staff is so friendly the music is great. The way a gay bar is suppose to be
No Place Better!!
I have to say this place saved a potentially terrible night in my life after an upsetting encounter at the Gay 90's to say the least. The place is just fresh. I found the staff to be very nice and fun. The drinks are good, There's a little bit of something for everyone whether you want to sit and relax with some drinks back by the Tiki bar, get some fresh air out on the patio, or get lost in the music on the bumpin dance floor. You can bring your friends or ride solo and mingle! This is the must see place if you're gay, and live in Minneapolis.
