Rev. Dr. Rebecca Voelkel is a 17th generation pastor and was ordained in 1997 and served as pastor at Spirit of the Lakes UCC in Minneapolis, the first predominantly LGBTQ congregation in a mainline denomination. Recently, she served as the Director of the Institute for Welcoming Resources and Faith Work for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and then as the Interim Executive Director of the PFund Foundation. www.revdrrebeccammvoelkel.com
THEME
Past and present intersections of queer identity with faith and justice work. Rev. Dr. Voelkel's personal story and presentation giving historical context.
EVENT FORMAT
2:00–2:30pm – Snacks and mingling, contribute to the story quote page or timeline
2:30-3:15pm – Welcome and meet featured storyteller
3:15-4:00pm – Small groups discuss theme and share your own stories.
4:00-4:15pm – Come back together as a big group and share insights and highlights from small group discussions.
