LGBT Community Event/Fundraiser for Angie Craig Democratic Candidate for U.S. Congress Wednesday, June 1 6p to 7p LUSH Special guests: Mayor Betsy Hodges, Minneapolis Council Members Lisa Goodman and Jacob Frey, LGBT political pioneers Sen. Scott Dibble and Rep. Karen Clark. Angie, an executive at St. Jude Medical, is a candidate to become one of seven LGBT members of the U.S. Congress, representing Minnesota’s Second District, a seat currently held by the retiring John Kline, a Republican. A win by Angie would be truly historic, making her one of just a handful of out gay Members of Congress – and the first from Minnesota – and flipping a Republican seat to the Democrats. The race is getting national attention, since Minnesota’s Second is a truly “purple district” – meaning it could go Democratic or Republican – and since a gay business woman and political progressive is running against a prominent far-right Republican, radio personality Jason Lewis, Minnesota’s own Rush Limbaugh.
