The Theatre of the Ridiculous and Absurd present's "VICE PALACE: The Last Cockettes Musical". This is the wild and boisterous show that brought notoriety to Divine and Mink Stole of John Waters fame. Martin Worman put pen to paper in 1972 and came up with his take on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" as seen through the eyes of Fellini. Richard "Scrumbly" Koldewyn wrote the music, inspired by the Nina Rota's scores for Italian films, while Worman and Scrumbly wrote the clever lyrics for all the twenty some songs.
Vice Palace takes place in Italy when Signorina Divina invites all her friends to her Villa to survive the plague in the most glamorous fashion imaginable. The guests provide entertainment (and burlesque) to distract them from the death lurking outside their door. As the evening progresses the acts get progressively more bizarre, as death slowly begins to creep in.
Director Keith Russell directs this two-hour extravaganza.
