Dear Friends of Casket Cinema,
Casket Cinema brings in the New Year with a program that focuses on women, with the media critical documentary “Killing Us Softly 4”. This is the latest version in Jean Kilbourne’s influential and award winning series that dissects how women are portrayed in advertising. Ms. Kilbourne has been at this project since the1980‘s and she’s amassed a wide collection of how misogynistic and sexist our media is.
“Killing Us Softly 4” is a fresh update on this expose. It will play with the short film, "I'm in Pittsburgh and It's Raining" about a woman hollywood stand in by Jesse McLean. Ms. Kilbourne was just honored in October and inducted in the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Duke University has just acquired her archive of 40 years.
Special guests for the evening are founding editor of Experience Life magazine, Pilar Gerasimo, Antonette Trussoni of A&E Casting and Senior Broadcast Producer at Olson advertising, Abby Stavig. They will join Casket Cinema co-founder Mark Wojahn in a post film Q&A. The cinema will open its doors at 7:30pm and the film will begin at 8pm.

When: Thursday, January 14th, doors at 7:30pm. Film at 8pm.
Where: Casket Cinema is located in the art studio of Mark Wojahn. The cinema is in the old Northwestern Casket Building, 681 17th Ave NE #145, Minneapolis, MN 55413, (612)781-5223.
If the event is on a first Thursday the building will be open, if not enter the Casket, via the north side loading door. Please bring friends and BYOB.
Admission is usually by donation unless noted. We are a micro/studio-cinema dedicated to showing the best in independent films and documentaries.
After each screening we delve into the subject with a Q& A with special guests and/or filmmakers.
