Hey! Friday Night Jazz At The Nicollet happens every week, and I thought May 29 could be a fun meetup. The group playing is called Bottomless Pit. No cover, but the suggested tip is $10. They pass around a container once per set.
The Nicollet is a coffee shop at the intersection of Nicollet and Franklin, on the edge Steven's Square and Whittier. It has coffee, beer and wine, and some food options. There are a lot of good places to eat nearby before though, this is Eat Street.

I read an article I can track down that says musicians are always paid ahead of time, and the person who runs the event funds subsequent nights from tips collected. The only other thing to mention price-wise, is if you follow the link, you will notice there is also the option to reserve a seat for $20, but I wouldn't feel pressured to do this, I think if you show up a little early you should be able to get a seat.
The music starts at 9, but if anyone wants to grab a beverage and chat, I will start hanging out at 8 :)
