We've given over 160 haircuts and trims this past year and raised more than $3,100 for local, small causes! Let's just take a second to recognize how rad you all are for supporting the community AND for what cuties you are as well. :)
Won't you join us for our 1 year anniversary?! We'd love to have you all there to get a fresh cut or trim or to just hang out in community!
The sliding scale cuts, $15-30 (no one turned away for lack of funds), donations will go to Minnehaha Free Space for all their hard work and for creating such a wonderful space for gathering and events and support.
Here's a bit about what they do: "The Minnehaha Free Space, a project of the Minneapolis Autonomous Radical Space (MARS) Collective, is a community resource hub and social center located at 3747 Minnehaha Avenue in South Minneapolis.
In order to help strengthen cultures of resistance against forms of oppression, we established a space that provides:
– Classes and workshops
– Space for meetings and events
– Internet (wifi), computers, printer and copiers for public use
– Lending library with over 2,000 titles and over 3,000 zines for reading in-house
– Weekly community meal (mostly vegan, organic and gluten-free)
– Sexual health supplies & resources
– Art space with supplies
– Kids’ room and provided childcare at our larger events
– Community message board & local radical events postings
– Office space for the local Free School (EXCO)
– Non-gendered bathrooms
…and much more!"
Did you notice?! We've added on to the time of this event so we won't have to turn anyone away and hopefully cut down the waiting time. Because of this, feel free to stop by throughout the 12-6pm event and sign up for a cut. No need to rush in at 12 as we'll be around for 6 hours this time!
And and and! Nine Inch Nails Pop-up Nail Salon is coming back! They painted many a nail at the last event and by popular demand are returning to make all your wishes come true! This time around, money raised from nail painting will go toward Spiral Collective. Say what?! Two causes in one event?! Yup. Cuz we're all just that rad. "SPIRAL (Supporting People in Reproduction, Abortion, and Loss) is a radical collective which provides free, compassionate, non-judgemental support to the full-spectrum of people across all pregnancy outcomes and reproductive experiences with the intention of empowering bodily autonomy. We value accessibility, inclusivity, and centering the experiences of marginalized communities in order to promote reproductive justice*."
Live music out front will be happening as well!
The Quincys at 1pm! Vanessa Bray at 4pm! And more to be announced!
We'll post more details as we know them! Can't wait to see all of your faces soon!!
