eagle BOLT bar (Closed Permanently)

(156 Ratings)
Leather Part of the Bolt/Underground/Eagle complex
While the dress code is enforced on weekends, the rest of the week this bar is a bit more relaxed with a friendly crowd of mostly 30-40s something men. Great place for cheap drinks and for cruising.

nice neighborhood bar

It's a gay bar with clientele almost exclusively gay men. Really good happy hour especially on Friday. Almost every day eagle/bolt gets a good crowd. Bar can become cruisy

Not The Friendliest Staff

My partner and I visit Minneapolis a few times per year and pretty much each trip includes one or two visits to the Eagle. This last visit (just prior to the MLB All-Star game) we went there twice and it seemed business was down. If our visit was any indication, it could be a result of what has become a less than friendly staff. When we arrived Saturday night, there was no door man near the front door so we continued to walk into the bar. A few steps inside someone indignantly yelled that he needed to see our ID. He was sitting at the front corner of the bar with his girlfriend and a few people standing around him. First, there was no need for him to be rude about it, and second, he should get off his butt and be near the front door paying attention to the patrons and not his girlfriend. The bartender at the main bar was friendly that night. However, the video room bartender was just an order taker and acted like he had better places to be. Hopefully this visit was an anomaly.

was at a bar visit sponsored by the Defenders july 5 /13

While I was attending the Dignity Conference,The Defenders a leather/levi group Dignity's outreach to the leather GLBT community held a open bar night there. I hadn't been there for over ten years, the guys were friendly, although it doesn't enforce a leather code.Again it was a hot night but it was air conditioned.

good drinks but bad ambiance

If you're straight, don't get upset when someone asks you how you're doing. Go go a straight bar if you're so insecure in a gay bar. On the flip side, the restrooms are unkempt and one time two guys were making out and fondling. The only thing s you won't see here are bears or leather...
